Just a progress report on the gout since I haven’t had anything to post about…
Not much actually is going on as I have not heard of any breaking news to report on and my gout has seemingly behaved. Although I am having major ankle issues that I do not think is gout related, but could be.
The time is 3 a.m., that’s when I awoke this morning due to a throbbing gouty toe! The Gout has reared its ugly head and attacked me in the middle of the night. To be honest, I’ve been asking for it. Not watching my diet and not drinking enough water to flush everything out. Damn those Reese’s peanut butter cups (high fructose corn syrup) and a trip too many to McDonald’s across the street. I know, I know, shame on me! Well ya know, things have been going so good as far as my gout not acting up and all I became careless. You can NOT become careless or gout will bite you on your ghoulie!
Johns Hopkins scientists now have shown that the malfunctioning gene they helped uncover can lead to high concentrations of blood urate that forms crystals in joint tissue, causing inflammation and pain the hallmark of this disease, Gout.
So I have decided to go bowling today with a few friends. Been a while since I’ve gone so hoping I do not aggravate my gout as there will be sliding on my left foot and putting a lot of pressure on my main gouty toe joint. Last time I played basketball my “gout foot” felt great through out the game, but the next day… POW, full on gout attack! It sucks that I have to be careful with simple things like this, and of course no bowling alley “burgers & fries” for me as that really sucks. So wish me luck on the lanes and lets hope for NO gout to “erupt” in my biggie toe. 
Just thought I would make an update this afternoon. I have not had any problems with my Gout in a while (yea!) except for a “twing” in the big toe joint here and there. I still get emails of good people suffering from this nightmare, Gout! When your in a full gout attack, its the longest week ever!! Can’t think, can’t enjoy anything, just misery wishing there were a magic pill out there to just get rid of it for good. Forget about putting on a shoe and going anywhere.. or sleeping at night, just agony all the way!
However, I have been reading up on some new interesting developments in treating gout, but they have not said any specifics as of yet. So, stay tuned…
